David Hitchcock OBE has worked for over thirty years in the City of London Financial Sector having started on Wall Street with Goldman Sachs in New York. He then spent 17 years at JPMorgan where he was the Managing Director responsible for the Bank’s most senior Investor Client Relationships in London and Europe. His Middle Eastern clients included the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA), the Kuwait Investment Office (KIO) and the Kuwait Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS). David has spent the last ten years in a portfolio career which has included rescuing high Precision Engineering Companies across the UK as well as listing biotech growth companies onto the London Stock Exchange. He has also chaired Grant Thornton’s UK Banking Group. He has lectured on strategy, finance and the economy at various institutions including the Cambridge University Judge Business School, the Royal College of Defence Studies and the Generals’ Course at Sandhurst.
Prior to his City Career David served as a Captain in the Sixth Queen Elizabeth’s Own Gurkha Rifles in Asia and Belize, having first commanded an infantry platoon on the Northern Ireland border in 1986. His last job in the army was as an Instructor at the School of Infantry. He is fluent in Nepalese, has made many visits to Nepal and as a Trustee has managed the investment portfolio of the Gurkha Welfare Trust for many years. He is a Graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and of Pembroke College, Cambridge where he was awarded an Open Exhibition in History and won the College History Prize.
