Tim Collins OBE is a vastly experienced leader, starting his career in the British army, where he was commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1981. He volunteered for the Special Air Service in 1988. He took part in many significant Special Forces operations over the next four years including the first Gulf War. In 1994, he attended the Army Command and Staff Course, including a short attachment to the US Command and Staff Course at Leavenworth as well as completing a Master of Arts Degree. He was selected for promotion to Lieutenant Colonel and posted back to HQ Director of Special Forces where his duties included the pursuit and arrest of persons indicted for war crimes in the former Yugoslavia. He commanded his Battalion during the Liberation of Iraq having given his now well-regarded ‘Eve of Battle’ speech. He was awarded the OBE in 2003 for his part in that war. After promotion to Colonel, he was Project Director for the Peace Support Training Centre in Sarajevo, before taking up the appointment of Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, in charge of Training in HQ Land Command in 2003; he retired from the Army in August 2004.

Since his leaving the forces, he has been much in demand as a security adviser and leadership speaker. He regularly appears on TV and writes for the UK broadsheets. His book, “Rules of Engagement”, reached The Times top 10 best sellers list. As Chairman of Horus Global, he was instrumental in the defining and formulation of the Legacy Programme in Iraq and Afghanistan and many other initiatives that are based on the successful counter-terrorist model from Northern Ireland.
